EDUCATION LOTTERY RETAILERS RECEIVE RECOGNITION

Installing an instant ticket vending machine and working on inventory control appears to be paying off for some North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) retailers. Two Raleigh Region retailers have increased sales from 107.89% to 315.12% and have been named "Stellar Sellers." Another retailer has been named a "S.T.A.R." for its enthusiasm for the lottery and getting players involved in the fun.

NCEL retailers that have increased their sales by the highest percentage in the region compared to the previous quarter earn the title of "Stellar Seller." One location per region earns the title of "S.T.A.R." (Spectacular Technique Achieving Retailer), based on NCEL sales representative recommendations for a store's unique sales promotion technique. The NCEL announces the following retail locations in the Raleigh Region named "Stellar Seller" or S.T.A.R.:

Woody's City Market, 205 Wolfe Street, Raleigh

Woody's City Market increased its sales by 315.12% compared to the previous quarter. According to owner Joe Hatch, customers at Woody's City Market enjoy playing instant scratch-off games. He says that sales increased after an Instant Ticket Vending Machine (ITVM) was installed.

Wolf Mart, 2808 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh

Wolf Mart increased its sales by 107.89% compared to the previous quarter. Youn Lee at Wolf Mart worked with her NCEL sales representative on inventory control and that helped increase her store's sales. Youn orders top-selling tickets and also added both a lighted NCEL sign and Point of Sale marketing materials to the exterior of her store so potential players know she is a lottery retailer.

Reilly Road BP Amoco, 101 N. Reilly Road, Fayetteville

Shelia at Reilly Road Amoco loves the lottery and makes it fun and exciting for her clerks and customers. "I dream about the lottery!" she says. "We have a lot of fun … when a new game comes out, I have people waiting in the parking lot." Sheila keeps the instant ticket dispensers full and encourages customers to reinvest their winnings. Her clerks wear matching lotto t-shirts on certain days, and are all personally trained by Sheila on the games to help players when making a lottery purchase.
