A new Powerball promotion starting Wednesday will give 14 lucky Powerball players in North Carolina the opportunity to attend the “Ultimate Tailgate Party’ where they will dine and play games with some of the greatest football players of all time.
The promotion provides VIP trips to each winner and three guests to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 50th Anniversary Fan Festival next May in Cleveland and admission to the private tailgate party with at least 100 members of the Hall of Fame. Among the Hall of Famers participating will be Terry Bradshaw, Joe Namath, Jerry Rice, Warren Moon and Barry Sanders.
The Fan Festival, the first of its kind for the Hall of Fame, is scheduled for May 3-4 at the I-X Center in Cleveland. Winners of the Powerball promotional drawing get a five-day, four-night VIP trip to the festival and attend the tailgate party on May 2, the night before the festival starts. At the tailgate party, each winner will sit at a dinner table with a Hall of Famer and then join a second for tournament games of darts, miniature golf and pool. Drawings will also be held to award four $25,000 prizes and the chance to win a $1 million prize.
“One fun thing about our lottery is the chance to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences,” said Alice Garland, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “Who wouldn’t want to have dinner at a tailgate party with Joe Namath or play miniature golf with Jerry Rice. We appreciate the support of these great football players in helping North Carolina raise money for the good cause we serve, education in North Carolina.”
Beginning Wednesday, Powerball players can get an entry into the promotional drawing by making a $10 purchase on a single Powerball ticket. For example, a purchase of five entries for Powerball drawings, $2 each, on a single ticket would be a qualifying ticket. The qualifying ticket must be entered into the drawing at the lottery’s Lucke-Zone website. To enter a ticket, Powerball players must be members of the Lucke-Zone, the lottery’s online player’s club, and logged into their account at www.lucke-zone.com.
The promotion will run through Feb. 3, 2014 and the drawing will be held Feb. 5, 2014. The trip consists of:
• Five days/four nights deluxe room accommodations for four and two meals per day per person
• Round-trip airfare for four to Cleveland, Ohio from a major airport and round-trip ground transfers
• $500 spending money
• Minimum prize of $1,000 up to $1,000,000 based upon games of chance at the Ultimate Tailgate Party
• Payment, on winner’s behalf, of the minimum required federal and state income tax withholdings on the value of the prize
• Tickets to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio and the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland
