RALEIGH – Instant Carolina Cash 5 is one of three new instant games on sale Tuesday. Players could scratch and win as much as $50,000 instantly or win free plays for the nightly Carolina Cash 5 drawing and a chance to win the jackpot.

The $2 game launches with more than $5.3 million in total prizes, including four top prizes of $50,000. Overall odds of winning including breakeven prizes are 1 in 4.42.

Players who scratch and reveal a “Cash 5” game symbol win two free Quick Pick plays for the draw version of the game, Carolina Cash 5. The plays are good for the next nightly drawing at 11:22 p.m. The draw version of the game has a rolling jackpot that starts at $50,000. The largest Cash 5 jackpot ever, $1.34 million, was won in May of 2011.

Another game starting Tuesday is called 10X the Payout and begins with six top prizes of $150,000. At $5 per play, the game gives players the chance to win more than $17.7 million in total prizes. Revealing a “10X” symbol wins ten times the prize shown. Overall odds of winning including breakeven prizes are 1 in 3.97.

Spades is a playing card-themed game that launches with a dozen top prizes of $4,000. At $1 per play, each of four hands on a ticket has a player’s card, dealer’s card, and prize. The prize for a given hand is won when the player’s card is higher than the dealer’s. Spades begins with overall odds of winning including breakeven prizes of 1 in 4.73.

Along with draw games, sales of instant tickets have enabled the N.C. Education Lottery to raise more than $2.58 billion to benefit education statewide.
