- George Lilly Jr. says he is planning to do something nice for his favorite aunt after winning $200,000 playing Powerball. The Fayetteville man matched all five white balls drawn in the Nov. 14 Powerball drawing to win the top non-jackpot prize.

Big Winners Nov. 12 - Nov. 16
- Someone is holding a Powerball ticket worth $200,000! The ticket for the Nov. 14 Powerball drawing matched all five numbers drawn and was sold at the Kangaroo Express on Rosehill Road in Fayetteville. It has yet to be claimed.

- Pragna Dhanak of Conover says she was shocked and surprised when she scratched off the “$500,000 Jackpot” instant ticket she’d bought and realized she’d won the $500,000 top prize. Dhanak, who received $340,003.20 after taxes, says she will donate some of her winnings and give some to her family.

- Ronnie Parton of Waynesville thought he was just joking around when he brought his Powerball ticket for the Nov. 4 drawing into a lottery retailer and told the clerk that he’d come to collect his million dollars. Then the clerk scanned his ticket and told Parton that he had won for real and, thanks to having Power Played, had indeed won $1 million!

- One number was the difference for a Durham man who carried a Powerball ticket worth $200,000 in his pocket for several days after the Oct. 31 drawing thinking he had won just $7. John Postiglione told NCEL officials that the discovery of the actual size of the Powerball prize came when his wife checked the numbers online.

- Mark Hamlin says he let out a joyous yell after realizing he’d won $688,283 playing “Carolina Cash 5.” The Charlotte man picked his own numbers for the Oct. 29 drawing and matched all five numbers drawn to win the top prize.

NC Education Lottery Commission Votes to Add Mega Millions
- Today, the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) Commission unanimously voted to add another national lottery game for North Carolina players. The NCEL is working toward launching Mega Millions sales on Jan. 31, 2010, along with several other U.S. lotteries.
