NCEL Executive Director Tom Shaheen has been elected as President of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) Board of Directors. Shaheen was elected to the position by the 32 member lotteries that offer the Powerball game. His term started July 1, 2009, and will run for one year. He fills the position for outgoing President, Minnesota Lottery Director Clint Harris, who served the past year.

It was a Father’s Day to remember for Joseph Carroll and his loved ones. Playing numbers that have special family significance, the Arden resident won $200,000 in the June 20 Powerball drawing. It was not until late the following day however, on Father’s Day, that Carroll says he checked online to see the drawing results. Carroll’s wife told the NCEL that her husband was in a state of shock after their son-in-law confirmed that all five numbers matched.

Today, the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) made another transfer to the state taking it over its budgeted goal for the fiscal year. The NCEL transferred over $25.3 million for sales in June. This transfer brings the tally for the fiscal year to $410.8 million and the overall tally from launch to over $1.136 billion.
